Organized Internet Marketing Ideas Are Worth A Fortune

The Internet Marketers must continuously generate new ideas to market their businesses on line. The speed at which the Internet moves forces the Internet Marketer to stay creative 24/7. With so many ideas running through your mind you probably find it difficult to stay organized. You may even find it difficult to focus on finishing jobs while trying to keep your other ideas alive in your mind.

Here is a method I use to keep the creative juices flowing while staying organized:

Post It Notes: Grab your self a big block of those 4 X 4 sticky notes. Leave them on your desk, in your brief case or by your bed. When you get an Internet Marketing idea jot it down and place it in plain view. My sticky notes are stuck to the wall in front of my desk. If you need even more organization get yourself the colored sticky notes. For instance I use specific colors to jot down ideas for particular topics. Blue is for my air purification web sites, green is for my lead company, pink for joint ventures. You get the idea.

Date your notes. This is important for those opportunities that you do get to take time to browse through the whole group of ideas. The date keeps the fresh ideas up and front. The older ones may still be good ideas but you may never get to them if they are truly aged. It is important to clean your board so that it stays a vital part of your business. Your post it note board should be full of life and consistently change to stay effective.

Pick a day at least once per month to review your ideas. It is fun and profitable to go through your sticky notes. Some of my notes are absolutely ridiculous and I wonder what in the world I was thinking. Those notes should be placed in the trash can. Others are fabulous and have allowed some very creative and profitable business plans to be set into action.

The good Internet Marketing ideas should be sorted and moved to specific spots in the board so that action can be taken on them. When I do sort out my board the ideas I am going to work on in the next couple of weeks get placed into a goal planning book. Those that are good ideas stay on the board until the next round.

Sticky notes allow those Internet Marketing ideas to continuously flow. It takes 10 seconds to jot down a simple note that may be the most wonderful idea you ever had. If you dont write it down the idea may be lost forever.

Real Estate and the Internet: A Lucrative Match

As the real estate market continues to boom, homebuyers are looking for a simple way to answer their questions without having to do a lot of work. Since the Internet is becoming the easiest way to access information about almost anything, why not put the two together?

According to a study conducted by the National Association of Realtors in 2005, the use of the Internet to search for a home has risen from 2% in 1995 to 77% in 2005. With so many buyers turning to the Internet to search for a home before they even contact an agent, its important for the agent to have all his or her information available online, including all the local listings from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), if allowed. This is especially true with the competitive nature of the real estate industry. If an agent doesnt have a fully equipped website, the buyer will go somewhere else for information. And they definitely have many other options.

Over the past five years, says the NAR survey, the number of agents with websites has increased 129%, leaving those without a website far behind the pack. Many agents cringe at the mere thought of creating a personal website, however, but the relationship between real estate and the internet shouldnt be intimidating. It should be intriguing. Never before have agents had direct access to so many people with whom they would not normally reach. In terms of lead generation, only referrals and repeat clients rank above the Internet as the most effective methods of gaining new business. Many have jumped at the chance to take advantage of this opportunity and are already investing heavily in internet marketing.

In 2006, 56% of agents spent more than $1,000 on technology and 30% spent $2,000 or more. As so many agents are becoming technologically savvy, it is becoming a necessity to market online to level the playing field with the competition and appeal to the millions of prospective buyers seeking answers on the Internet. However, with online marketing, you get what you pay for. Its amazing that many real estate professionals continue to produce sub-par websites without any regard to how they might be perceived online. With 77% of the potential market going online first, why would you spend the majority of your branding efforts and resources elsewhere? Gone are the days where a free website produced by "my sisters kid" will produce results online. In fact, these sites stand out like a sore thumb in the new world of online marketing. If you dont have a professional, polished and complete site you will actually hurt your business in the long-run.

However, creating your own website takes some time and effort, which many of us dont have to spare. That is why seeking some experienced help could be the ticket to successful, stress-free online marketing.

Once you have a website, there are still some decisions to be made to ensure that you get the most coverage possible for your listings. First, in order to display your listings you will need to sign up for a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and get authorized to receive the IDX data from your local MLS. IDX, or Internet Data Exchange, is the means of extracting data from the MLS and delivering it to a website for public consumption. In other words, IDX makes it much easier for potential buyers to browse your site for listings that fit their needs, giving the "little guys" some of the same marketing potential as the "big guys". If you dont display IDX search tools on your website, potential buyers could possibly pass up your site in favor of the competition, which isnt limited to just agents and brokers. With the tightening market, it is important for those selling their home on their own to utilize the local MLS as well.

A common synonym for IDX is Broker Reciprocity, so, in other words, when setting up your site you have to choose if you want your listings available on other brokers sites and their listings available on your site. You may be asking yourself, why would I want to display other brokers listings on my website? When you display these listings, you give potential buyers a reason to keep coming back to your site, making you a reliable real estate resource for your area. And allowing other brokers to display your listings is basically just free advertising. The more places your listings show up, the faster they are likely to sell. What agent doesnt want the greatest possible amount of exposure for every listing?

You Can't Be Number One On Google

As an Internet marketing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) consultant, I often get requests like this: "I need to be number one on Google, and I dont have a lot of money to spend. How cheaply can you do it, and how long will it take?"

Sadly, the answer to this type of request is usually, "You cant be number one on Google."

If you think about it, you will understand why. Imagine for a moment that, as an SEO expert, I have a magic wand that I can wave to instantly move your website to the top of the search results for any search terms you choose. As soon as I do that, one of your competitors will pay their SEO consultant to wave a magic wand, and move their website to first place, ahead of yours. Then another competitor will pay another consultant, and then another, and another.

Soon there are thousands of SEO consultants waving magic wands. But since there is only one first place, and only ten listings on the first page of search results, its clear that most of the competitors will not be on the first page.

Furthermore, Google, Yahoo and MSN (the big three search engine companies) dont really like SEO consultants doing things to affect search engine positioning, so they regularly "break the magic wands" by changing their algorithms.

The Internet once held the promise of leveling the playing field, so very small companies could compete with very big companies. But as the Internet has grown, its become more competitive. Its now difficult and expensive to get good visibility in search engines.

Of course, the competition varies depending on your business. If you are a taxidermist and you want to promote your services to people in San Diego, California, it wont be too hard to achieve good results because there are a relatively small number of local competitors. But if you are a mortgage company and you want to reach customers throughout the United States, it will be very hard and very expensive to achieve top placement in the major search engines.

Also, results take longer to achieve than in the past. The major search engine companies intentionally delay changes in search engine positioning in order to thwart SEO practitioners (this is just one way in which Google "breaks the magic wands"). So instead of 4-6 weeks, expect to wait 3-4 months for significant results.

What You Can Do

So how can you use the Internet to promote your business?

FIRST: understand that Internet marketing is no longer a quick and inexpensive way to bring traffic to your website, but it is actually more important than ever. In a recent study, almost 80% of respondents stated that the Internet is now their primary source of information when choosing products and services. In other words, having an effective web presence is now the single best way to reach your potential customers.

So you need to plan and budget for ongoing Internet marketing, just as in the past you may have paid for regular newspaper ads, radio spots, or direct mail. Consider shifting some of your ad spending from traditional media to the Internet, or possibly even increasing your overall marketing budget in order to take advantage of Internet opportunities. Most companies dont yet have a good Internet marketing strategy, so there is an opportunity for you to get ahead of your competitors by establishing a strong web presence now.

NEXT: recognize that Internet marketing is more than just search engine optimization. Depending on your needs and your type of business, you may need to consider SEO, link building campaigns, Pay-Per-Click advertising, banner ads and sponsorships, affiliate programs, e-mail list promotions, blogging, article syndication, Internet community pages, or other techniques. Unless you plan on becoming an expert in Internet marketing, you should find a full-service consultant who can explain the options and help you to choose the most effective programs for your business and budget.

FINALLY: be suspicious of anyone who promises extraordinary results. There are still a few SEO tricks that can deliver fast results, but the search engine companies actually monitor for sites using these tricks. In most cases they will quickly lower your position in the search ranks, and in some cases even remove your site from the search results entirely. As the old maxim says, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably isnt true.

Dont Forget to Market Your Internet Business Offline.

Marketing your internet business is a key strategy to being a successful internet marketer. However a lot of people who are internet marketers think that they should only do online marketing this is so wrong. Sure there are billions of internet users online and you should try and target your advertising to them but you also should advertise your business offline. How do we advertise our business offline, there are many ways to advertise your business offline.

Classified advertising is one of the preferred offline marketing forms as it is so easy to contact your local newspaper and place an advert in the next issue. If you decide to do this you really should use a tracking program as you want to know where your customers are coming from and re work what works and what doesnt so that you arent wasting your money.

Flyers is another great way of getting the word out about your website and encourage people to visit your site, maybe offer them a freebie or a discount to encourage them to visit your website. Even if you dont make a sale you may get them to subscribe to your list and make a sale further down the line.

Word of mouth tell all your friends about your website you never know they may tell someone who tells someone who purchases something from you or decides that they too want to get into the internet business and they may join you in building your down line and sign up for one or two of your programs.

Have your website address on the back of your car. If you have a really nice car why not get a really cool sticker made with your website address and a slogan and while youre in traffic someone may just jot down your website address and check it out and purchase something. You can also get family and friends to also ad stickers to their cars.

The whole reason for marketing online or off is to get targeted traffic to your website so dont limit your chances dont forget to market your website offline.

For those who are new to the Internet, or at least to the concept of making money on the Internet, you will find that network marketing on the Internet is not necessarily the same as what one may think from personal knowledge. Although it may involve the concept of recruiting new people to join the network, many times it involves becoming an affiliate member of an established network. In many ways, this works better than recruiting new members into the group because you are already working with an organization that is established. People tend to feel more comfortable working with companies who are already established as opposed to newcomers.

That should automatically send up a red flag because in all honesty, you can become an affiliate on your own with Internet giants such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and many others without paying a fee. No, they dont provide you with a website, but you dont have to pay for the privilege of being an affiliate, either.

ClickBank is one of the bigger providers of affiliate memberships, and they often pay as much as $4 for each sale. It is up to you to decide if you want someone who will provide a website for you to store the products or if you are content to promote your own website and include banners or links to the sites where you hold affiliate memberships.

Dont Let Irritable Online Marketing Syndrome Stop You From Online Success

Every year, many one-man online stores and small e-tailers close their internet doors and drop out of the race without giving themselves a fair shot at success because of Irritable Online Marketing Syndrome (IOMS). IOMS, more commonly known as information overload, presents a real and present danger and although it sometimes attacks veteran online marketers, newbies and intermediate users find themselves especially susceptible to its volatile effects.

The "bust" felt by major online companies a few years ago, can no longer shoulder the blame for failure on the internet. Online market research company eMarketer.com estimates that retail e-commerce sales will increase an average 18.6% per year between 2005 and 2009.

The site which provides extensive reports online marketing and objective analysis of online market trends, states, "Not only are online shoppers spending more online, they are buying more different types of goods. This opens new possibilities for creative Web retailers."

According to emarketer.com, small Web retailers can now emerge to meet the needs of shoppers. Overcoming IOMS can often mean the difference between success and failure for home-based and other internet-based companies.

IOMS works like this: Someone decides to sell a product or service on the internet. A search on the major engines for the term "internet marketing" reveals a billion pages representing several hundred or thousands of gurus, coaches and wannabees.

After selecting a few, scanning their Web sites and downloading ebooks, newsletters, special reports, 7 day e-mail courses, etc., months or even years later, they find themselves either still not doing anything or accomplishing very little towards establishing their internet business.

Usually, they then drop out, all the time pooh-poohing accounts that people can make a bona fide living online. Veteran internet marketer Marlon Sanders (www.amazingformulacd.com) describes it like this in a recent issue of MILCERS Magazine: "Having the knowledge is what holds most people back. And yet, a lot of our members and customers feel overwhelmed, frustrated and confused. They have the knowledge but dont know which method to use first, which method invalidates the other, and which marketing teacher invalidates the method taught by another marketing teacher."

You can find qualified help from almost every nook and cranny of the internet and therein lies the problem. A known factor stops anyone from acting on all of the available information, and that is put simply, a day consists of only 24 hours.

Having at your fingertips a storehouse of information can build your personal library, but it may also cause the death of your dreams of internet success -- killing it off before it gets off the ground. Let me explain it the way a higher education counselor might.

Enrolling in a three-credit-hour class means youll sit in class for roughly three hours per week. However, if your goal is to make a high passing grade, youll need three hours of study time each week for every credit hour.

A three-credit-hour class will actually take up nine total hours of your time weekly. If you take three classes with the same credit hours, you will take nine credit hours, and you will need to dedicate a total of 27 hours of your time weekly.

The same applies with the study of internet marketing. The latest get-rich-quick schemes or techniques and promises of working one or two hours per day, often lure many would-be internet marketers who underestimate the time needed to understand and learn the real concepts provided.

IOMS rears its head when it comes to internet mastery; what you need to do in order to get schooled and not just hit and miss gaining of some knowledge. The sooner you recognize its symptoms, the sooner you can get treatment (change your diet of overwhelming information and select two to three courses of study) and move past its stifling effects.

Internet Marketing Strategy Is Working For SMBs

According to the ISP Interlands Summer 2005 Small and Medium-sized Business Barometer, SMBs are getting a return from their Internet marketing strategy - company websites are providing valuable leads and sales. 57 percent of business leaders surveyed said they generate monthly revenue through online purchases or offline purchases that were influenced by their website.

78 percent report their business is healthier - has a competitive advantage or stronger economic footing - because they have a website, and 76 percent say their website generates leads for their business.

Surprisingly, only 54 percent are using search engine optimization. In the last five years search engines have become an essential tool for purchasers. Other studies show that more than two thirds of all sales - whether online or offline - are now researched online first. And this includes business to business purchases.

Instead of companies looking for a target audience, consumers are online looking for the best place to make the purchase. And if your website is not found in those searches, youre not even in the game.

Search engine visibility is only one part of an effective Internet Marketing Strategy, but it is the vital first step. If you dont get found, the rest cant work.

A good internet marketing strategy has two sides - search engine visibility on your most effective keywords and a usable website that converts your visitors to leads. Online PR tools can play a major role in producing the broad visibility you need.

"The rapid growth of the news engines and business blogs has created online PR opportunities that can raise search engine visibility dramatically," said Sally Falkow, President of Expansion Plus Inc., an Internet marketing and PR firm in Los Angeles. "With the right strategy you can get your message out directly to the consumers who are reading their news online."

When asked to define the role of marketing in their company, 49 percent of the small-business leaders surveyed said it was used to generate sales, while 38 percent said to build credibility or brand awareness.

Search engine visibility is strongly linked to brand awareness and credibility. Optimizing your press releases and making them into news articles gives you excellent visibility, says Falkow. And now that Yahoo News, which has the largest online news audience, is indexing blogs with their news content, savvy business owners can create an industry news blog that will consistently get visibility and build credibility.

"Industry Newsmastering with a business blog could be the next big online marketing opportunity," predicts Falkow. This survey shows that 19 percent of SMBs have already incorporated a blog into their Internet marketing strategy.
